Colorado is More than Denver: Get to Know Colorado Springs

The first city that comes to mind when you think of Colorado is Denver. However, there are other places that merit attention. One of them is Colorado Springs – the second most populated city of the state with a population of over 400,000 people. What makes Colorado Springs a great place for living? Here are several reasons.

Suburban lifestyle

Though Colorado Springs is quite populated, it is much more suburban than Denver. Many families with kids prefer living in Colorado Springs because of a more relaxed lifestyle, clean streets, green parks, hiking trails, and tight-knit community.

Outdoor activities throughout a year

Perfect weather with over 240 sunny days per year and natural beauty offer plenty of outdoor activities in any season. In summer you can go hiking at Garden of the Gods or try whitewater rafting. Spring or fall is the perfect time for exploring the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park on foot, train, gondola, or hot air balloon. Winter is the time for snow sports enthusiasts: skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, hickey, ice-skating, and many other activities.

Local museums

Colorado Springs is the city of unique museums. There is ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy, where you can learn more about Western American history, the Western Museum of Mining & Industry with the exhibitions about the era of industrialization in the US, the World Figure Skating Museum & Hall of Fame with a unique collection of figure skating artifacts, and many others.

Delicious food

The cuisine in Colorado Springs is a mix of flavors, ingredients, and recipes from all over the world. With so many delicious and unique places to eat, it will be hard to choose among the best restaurants in the city. In Colorado Springs you can try traditional food from Germany, Salvadore, Colombia, France, and other countries.

Young population

Young professionals love this city and keep flocking to Colorado Springs. In the past 5 years, the population of millenial-aged residents has increased by 15%. In 2019 Colorado Springs was ranked as one of the best places for young people based on job opportunities, affordable housing, and plenty of entertainment options.

Active lifestyle

No wonder Colorado Springs is called the Olympic City. Most residents lead active lives, do sports, spend a lot of time outside in nature, and attend fitness classes. This makes Colorado Springs a very athletic and healthy city with positive vibes.
